I don’t know about you, but from where I’m sitting in northwest Ohio, summer is getting an A for amazing! Blue skies, lots of sun, cool mornings. This NEVER happens. Just a few years ago, we had the “summer that wasn’t”, where literally every weekend it rained. Speaking of which, we’ve had so much warm and beautiful sunshine over the past few weeks, we actually could use a good rain. When we do have a rainy day, I turn to comfort food, and this Better for You Sourdough Banana Bread recipe is sweet and delicious. I tried a favorite recipe and made it even better with the addition of sourdough and Greek yogurt. No worries if you don’t have sourdough on hand, I’ll give you both variations.
Better for You Sourdough Banana Bread Ingredients

Better for You Sourdough Banana Bread Tips
I personally love the addition of sourdough to this recipe. Sourdough just gives the bread some extra texture and heartiness that I just love. Sourdough recipes abound, but my favorite is here. I also highly recommend a loaf pan that is either cast iron or glass. Pyrex loaf pans are extremely durable and inexpensive. I no longer use non-stick cookware due to the deterioration of the coating. I don’t want any of that leaching into my food.
You can also add in other mix-ins to this recipe. The addition of a half cup of chocolate chips, dried cranberries, crushed walnuts, or coconut would be fantastic variations.
