About Sunny Side Up Living

Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m glad you’re here!

I’m Angie, the voice behind my blog that’s focused on simple living, do-it-yourself inspiration, gardening, and healthy, homemade recipes. Although my blog has only been around for just over a year, I am passionate about its content. Join me in our journey to restore our old farmhouse into our dream home while enjoying simple living without excess and finding beauty in our victories…and our mishaps.

A little over four years ago, we were still living in a house we had custom built in 2007 in a nice subdivision. We had great neighbors and we loved the neighborhood, but as our daughters were growing up and moving on to college, we were itching to do something else. Matt loves working on remodeling projects and I grew up on a grain farm with lots of space to move around.

One evening, we were coming home from date night and Matt asked if he could show me something. We drove on some country roads and he took me past a farmhouse that was for sale by owner. There were big trees lining the yard and a long gravel driveway leading to a few barns and a chicken coop. My first impression was that it needed work but had potential and was a nice size. However, we weren’t thinking about moving at all.

But then…a few weeks later, we drove by again. We both started getting excited about its possibilities and frankly, a little obsessed. We told our daughters, who thought we lost our minds. We went back for another look a week later and the next thing we knew, we had made a decision. We were going to be the new owners of a 120-year old farmhouse with no shortage of projects for Matt and me to enjoy together.

Fast forward a few years later and here we are. We hope, even if you have no desire to remodel an old farmhouse entirely, that you can be inspired to do a new project, or learn something new. We have plenty of wisdom and stories to share and we’ve barely scratched the surface!
