These white wine margaritas are the perfect and deliciously refreshing mashup of two of my favorite adult beverages: wine, and margaritas of course!
Ask Matt or any of my good friends what my favorite adult beverage is. They’ll likely say either wine or margaritas. With wine, I tend to be a seasonal drinker. I prefer reds in the chillier months and opt for white come balmier temps. I really can’t pick a favorite wine, however. From cabernet to chardonnay, I’m not very picky. And with margaritas, although my preference is for a good classic on the rocks with salt, I occasionally stray. Different flavors, even the spicy jalapeƱo type, are fun to try!
However, I like to mix it up with cocktails, and these white wine margaritas are one of my favorites. I’ve been making this recipe for years, and even brought a pitcher of them to book club. They’re tastier than the pre-mixed and pre-bottled drinks you can find these days in the grocery store alcohol aisles. I think they’re a refreshing alternative to margaritas on Cinco de Mayo. Because the tequila and wine are diluted with water and limeade, they’re less, er, potent than a full-strength margarita. I like to serve them with my favorite Mexican food, this simple and delicious salsa, or just to enjoy on a hot summer weekend.
How To Make White Wine Margaritas
To make these white wine margaritas, one of the things you’ll need is a bottle of white wine. I recommend pinot grigio for this recipe. However, don’t feel like you have to pick the most expensive bottle. A mid-price one is fine. You’ll also add some good quality tequila, limeade concentrate, orange juice, and water. I like to make a pitcher full and serve them over ice in festive glasses with a sea salt rim and a slice of fresh lime. I love this set with a bright blue rim and this one, which is non-breakable, and made right here in our area!
