This year, more than ever, I want to give meaningful holiday gifts to family and friends. It just feels right to me to bypass the typical and practical for the memorable and special. Are you feeling this way, too?
When I really want to give something special, my go-to source is Etsy for several reasons:
- Finding gifts that are unusual, unique, and personalized is easy
- I can find something for everyone on my list and all within my budget
- I want to support small businesses and independent makers
Finding Meaningful Holiday Gifts Online
I prefer shopping in a brick and mortar store in December to online shopping. Call me old fashioned but I love the festive music playing and the colorful store decorations. Everyone seems to be happy! This year, I’m planning to do a hybrid shopping effort of traditional and online.
I could spend hours trolling websites and scrolling through endless pages of ideas. I just don’t have that much free time on my hands, though! To make hunting down the perfect thing simpler, I start by focusing on the person I’m gifting. Personality traits, hobbies, and quirks always help me land on some great ideas. Etsy’s filters also really help narrow choices down.
Here are a few meaningful holiday gifts I’m planning to give:
The Jewelry Aficionado

If you or someone you know has lost a family member or friend this year, this bracelet would make an amazing gift. I love the idea of memorializing someone you love by incorporating their handwriting in the design. Plus, it’s stainless steel so it won’t tarnish.
The Baker

If you’ve been a reader of this blog for a while, you know I love a good recipe. A few that I’ve featured have been passed down within my family. like my epic concord grape pie. This tea towel would make a great gift to give to that person who loves to bake everything homemade. And it’s yet another way to preserve the precious handwriting of a recipe’s author.
The Coffee Lover

Know what goes great with coffee? A creative coffee mug, and it makes an excellent stocking stuffer. A fun mug can say a lot about the person sipping. For example, start here to find the perfect one for an avid reader. Shopping for a movie lover? You can find just about any funny line from a favorite television show or movie for the pop culture enthusiast.
The New Home Owner

You don’t realize how often people move to a new address until you’re the one moving. Suddenly, it seems like everyone you know is building a house or moving to a new neighborhood. I love the timeless quality of this name sign to give as a housewarming or gift to someone moving into a new home during the holidays.
The Perfect Ornament

When the girls were babies, I started the tradition of buying them each a special ornament every year for Christmas. Once they officially get married or move into their own place, they’ll be getting a box of special and sentimental ornaments to decorate their own tree. Every year, I try to find an ornament to commemorate a landmark event, special hobby, favorite tv show, and the like. You can find all kinds of ornament inspiration on Etsy. I recommend starting here!
The Craft Bourbon Drinker

This decanter and glasses set have excellent reviews! It would be the perfect, personalized gift for the person who wants to up the ante of their home bar.
The Gourmet Chef

I can’t lie. As someone who loves to cook, I would love these gorgeous wood kitchen utensils for myself. Talk about beautiful, useful, and sustainable. Shameless hints to my family!
I hope I’ve been able to give you ideas for meaningful holiday gifts if you still have shopping left to do. No matter what your holidays look like this year, it’s the people in our lives that we should continue to celebrate, no matter what.
