This delicious pumpkin smoothie is a snap to make. Packed with vitamin A and protein, it’s the perfect post-workout recovery drink, too. Make it no matter the season!
Why I Love This Pumpkin Smoothie
Truth be told, I am not a pumpkin pie kind of girl. It’s a texture aversion thing only, though. I love the flavor of pumpkin, and, come fall, I really enjoy the process of making my own homemade pumpkin puree like I did last year with these pie pumpkins.
However, when pumpkins are not in season, canned pumpkin works out just fine, therefore I’m using it in this recipe.
This smoothie recipe is filling, which is great for me because my stomach growls an hour after I eat, I swear! I love the nutritional benefits of this smoothie, too. Because it’s made with Greek yogurt, it packs a gut-healthy, protein-filled punch. The addition of the pumpkin pie spice and the banana really amps up the flavor, too. I also added a bit of my favorite nut butter, which you can find at Costco, and even here on Amazon now. Yippee, you can avoid the trip to the giant warehouse and have it delivered to your door. ?
I love this stuff, and there’s no added sugar, which makes my health nut heart so happy!
How To Make It
Just as with my green smoothie recipe, this one takes just a minute to make. I make smoothies to take to work for lunch all the time, and they’re perfect to pour in a travel tumbler to drink while you’re running errands too. Gotta love that! I used unsweetened almond milk and nonfat Greek yogurt for this recipe. However, if regular dairy milk and full-fat yogurt are your jam, go for it. I also added a bit of pumpkin pie spice. If you don’t have any, a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon and an eighth teaspoon of nutmeg and ginger will get you the same taste. I also added a room temp banana, but if you love super-cold smoothies, a frozen banana will work just fine. You may just need to give it a few more seconds of time in the blender.
